Category briefs
Every category fails in its own way. Shoes fail on size, bags fail on hardware tone, headphones fail on rules you did not read. This page is a lookup for the one that matters to whatever you are about to buy.
There is no score here and no ranking. Three lines per category, each one traceable to an OOTDBUY notice, plus the link to browse that category.
Pick your category
Twenty two categories, covering what most first parcels are made of.
Shipping status comes from the OOTDBUY Notes Before Purchasing list, and the inspection lines from the Inspection Information notice, both read 3 August 2026. The third line is our reading of what those exclusions mean for that category. No part of this is an OOTDBUY score, and no agent publishes anything like it.
All twenty two briefs, in full
The same three lines as the lookup above, laid out so you can read or search the whole set at once. Open the one you need.
Sneakers and trainersNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Pair count, colourway and the size printed on the box or label are checked against your order, the box is opened, and photos are taken.
Your job before you buy. Size deviation sits outside the inspection scope, so a shoe that runs small still passes. Ask the seller for the insole length in centimetres for your size before you buy, then compare it with a shoe you already own.
Casual and canvas shoesNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and the marked size are checked, and the box is opened and photographed.
Your job before you buy. Width is never inspected, and canvas or knit uppers sit narrower than leather at the same marked size. Read the sellers own measurement table rather than converting from your usual EU size.
Leather shoes and bootsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and marked size are checked, and the shoes are photographed out of the box.
Your job before you buy. Colour deviation is excluded from inspection, and leather dye shifts between production runs more than fabric does. Treat the listing photo as the intention and the QC photo as the fact.
Hoodies and sweatshirtsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Piece count, colour and the size on the label are checked, and the garment is unfolded and photographed.
Your job before you buy. A garment that matches its own label passes inspection even if it does not fit you. Ask for chest width and body length in centimetres, because Chinese sizing runs shorter in the body and sleeve at the same letter.
T-shirts and topsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and labelled size are checked, and each piece is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Print placement and wash tone are not inspected. If the graphic position matters to you, say so in the order note and ask for a flat lay photo while the parcel is still in the warehouse.
Jackets and outerwearNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour, labelled size and obvious specification mismatches are checked, and the jacket is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Shell fabric weight is not part of the inspection, and jackets are the category where bulk drives freight. Confirm the shell and lining in the listing text, and expect one jacket to dominate the parcel it travels in.
Down jackets and puffersNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and labelled size are checked and the item is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Down compresses, so what it feels like in your hand tells you nothing about the freight. If you are consolidating, pair a puffer with flat items rather than with other bulky pieces.
Knitwear and sweatersNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and labelled size are checked, and the piece is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Yarn thickness and how a knit pills cannot be inspected. Read what the listing says about composition, and treat any wool content claim as unverified until the item is in your hands.
Jeans and denimNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and the waist size on the label are checked, plus a photo set.
Your job before you buy. Denim wash varies between runs, and colour deviation is out of scope. Waist and inseam in centimetres from the seller beat any conversion chart.
Trousers and cargosNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and labelled size are checked and photographed.
Your job before you buy. Rise and leg opening decide whether cargos look right, and neither is inspected. Ask for the flat measurements the seller used for the sample.
Bags and handbagsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and the dimensions or model stated in the listing are checked, and the bag is photographed from several angles.
Your job before you buy. Hardware tone and lining finish are the parts that vary, and neither counts as a defect under the inspection scope. Ask for close photos of the zip pulls, feet and interior stamp before the parcel ships.
BackpacksNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and stated dimensions are checked, and photos are taken.
Your job before you buy. Backpacks are light but bulky, so they tend to set the size of a consolidated parcel. Decide early whether the bag ships alone or becomes the shell that everything soft gets packed inside.
Wallets and small leather goodsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and model are checked and photographed.
Your job before you buy. Small leather goods are the cheapest thing to add to an existing parcel, which is exactly why they are the easiest way to push a parcel into commercial territory at customs. Count units, not just value.
WatchesRead the restricted list first
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and model are checked, and the watch is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Usage effect is explicitly outside the inspection scope, so timekeeping is not tested. Magnetic components also appear on the restricted list, so read that page before you pay rather than after the parcel is packed.
JewelleryRead the restricted list first
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and model are checked and photographed.
Your job before you buy. Magnetic clasps are named on the restricted list, and plating thickness is not inspected. If the piece closes with a magnet, check the list before you order rather than after it reaches the warehouse.
Sunglasses and framesNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and model are checked, and the frames are photographed in their case.
Your job before you buy. Lens tint and coating quality are not inspected. Ask for a photo of the lenses against a white background if the tint is the reason you are buying.
Caps and hatsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and size are checked, and each piece is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Crown height and brim curve are what make a cap look right, and neither is measured. Structured caps also crush in transit, so ask in the order note for the crown to be packed supported.
Perfume and fragranceRead the restricted list first
What OOTDBUY checks. The parcel is opened and checked like everything else, and the bottle is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Liquids are named on the official restricted list, so this may not ship at all on your line. Read that list before you pay for the goods, because a rejected item has still cost you the domestic purchase.
Electronics and gadgetsRead the restricted list first
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and model are checked and the device is photographed. It is not powered on, because usage effect is outside the inspection scope.
Your job before you buy. Batteries and magnetic parts are restricted, and the rules differ by line and destination. Confirm on the official list first, then expect slower handling than a soft goods parcel.
Headphones and audioRead the restricted list first
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and model are checked and photographed in the box.
Your job before you buy. Drivers contain magnets, and magnetic parts are named on the restricted list. Sound is never tested, so treat any audio claim in the listing as unverified and read the restricted list before ordering.
Plush toysNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Count, colour and size are checked, and the toy is photographed.
Your job before you buy. Plush is the clearest case where volume rather than weight sets the price. Decide whether it travels with a hard parcel or alone before you add three more of them to the same order.
BeltsNothing on the restricted list
What OOTDBUY checks. Colour, buckle type and the stamped length are checked and photographed.
Your job before you buy. Belts are sized by total strap length in centimetres, not by waist size, and Chinese listings usually quote the former. Measure a belt you already wear from the buckle pin to the hole you use, and ask the seller for that number rather than converting a trouser size.
Why the third line exists
Inspection is a shipping safeguard, not a quality opinion
Read the official scope once and the whole structure of this page follows from it. OOTDBUY checks that what arrived is what you ordered, that nothing banned is in the box, and it photographs the result. It states that colour deviation, size deviation and usage effect are not within that scope.
Every one of those exclusions is a job that lands back on you, and it lands before you pay rather than after. That is the third line in every brief above: not a warning that something is wrong, just the specific homework that this category leaves you.
The categories that touch the restricted list
These are not banned. They are conditional, and the condition depends on the line serving your country. The rule is the same in every case: read the official list before you pay for the goods, because a parcel stopped at the warehouse has still cost you the domestic purchase.
| Category | What triggers the rule | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| Perfume and fragrance | Liquids are named on the list | Check the list, then ask the agent whether your line accepts it |
| Cosmetics and skincare | Cosmetics, pastes and powders are all named | Check the list before the seller ships to the warehouse |
| Headphones and speakers | Drivers contain magnets | Check the list and expect slower handling |
| Watches and magnetic jewellery | Magnetic parts and batteries | Confirm the closure type and the movement in the listing |
| Electronics and gadgets | Batteries and magnets | Check the list, and remember nothing gets switched on |
| Sports and outdoor gear | Bladed or pressurised accessories | Check the list, then check whether it has to ship alone |
| Tobacco and alcohol | Prohibited outright | Do not order it |

Lens tint and coating are not inspected. A photo against a white background tells you more than the listing render.
Browse eyewearWhat a brief cannot do
Three honest limits, because a page like this is easy to over trust.
It is category level, not item level. A listing inside a safe category can still contain a magnet, a battery or a liquid, and the item description is the only place that shows up.
It reflects the rules as published on 3 August 2026. Restricted lists change, and they change per line and per destination. The official page is linked from every brief for exactly that reason.
And it says nothing at all about quality. No agent publishes a quality judgement, we have not handled these items, and any site that ranks replica quality for you is making it up.
