Ordering a find
Choosing well is the hard part and it is finished by the time you get here. What follows is mechanical, but it is where the money moves, and two of these steps are the largest avoidable costs in the whole process.
This is the short version. Our sister guide at ootdbuysheet.com goes deeper on fees and freight structure, and we deliberately do not duplicate it.
How to order, step by step
Seven stages on the official screen. Here is what each one asks of you.
Paste the link and pick the variant
Colour, size and any remark go on the order line. Inspection later compares the parcel against exactly this, so a wrong variant here is a wrong variant all the way through.

The order screen splits the journey in two: seller to the OOTDBUY warehouse, then warehouse to your destination. The destination is chosen here, not at checkout.

This is the first of two payments. It covers the item and getting it to the warehouse. There is no purchasing commission on top of it.
Wait for inspection, then read the photos
The warehouse opens it, compares it with your order and photographs it. Which shots to ask for
Decide what travels together
The single largest saving available to you. Free storage exists so you can wait for the rest of the outfit.
Choose a rehearsal or a direct waybill
Pay 20 CNY to have it packed first and see the real weight, or send it straight out on an estimate and settle the difference afterwards.
Pay international freight and wait
The second payment. The grey line under the order total exists to remind you that international freight was never in the first number.

The money
Two payments, and what sits in each
Almost every surprise in this process comes from expecting one payment and meeting two. The first covers goods plus domestic freight. The second covers international freight plus a customs declaration fee, which OOTDBUY describes as typically around 8 CNY.
We do not publish freight rates. They are set by couriers, they differ per line and per destination, and any number we printed would be wrong within weeks. The official calculator is the right place to get one, and the rehearsal option is the right way to get an exact one.
Top ups have their own costs. PayPal is published at 4.5 percent plus 0.30 USD, converted through the dollar. Wise supports several currencies with different receiving details for each. Both are on the official top up page.
Consolidation is where the saving is
OOTDBUY publishes one worked example, and it is the clearest argument for patience anywhere in its documentation. Three parcels of 700, 1100 and 1600 grams sent separately came to 1071 CNY. The same three combined into one 3400 gram box came to 645 CNY.
Those are its numbers, on its route, on the day it wrote them: GD-EMS to the United States, first 500 grams at 205, each further 500 grams at 72, plus a handling charge of 8. Your line and your weights will produce different figures. The shape holds anyway, because the first weight bracket is the expensive one and you only pay it once per parcel.
The storage window is a feature, not a grace period
Ninety days free for normal parcels, counted from the day the warehouse receives the item, with an email before the deadline. Abnormal parcels get thirty days and no reminder.
Read that as permission to buy the pieces of an outfit as you find them rather than all at once. It is what makes consolidation practical for someone who is not ready to spend the whole budget in one evening.
Rehearsal or waybill
When the parcel is ready to go, there are two routes out and they trade the same thing against each other: certainty against speed.
A packing rehearsal costs 20 CNY. The warehouse packs the parcel first, so you see the actual weight and the actual freight for each line before you pick one. If your parcel is bulky, or you are choosing between two lines with different volumetric rules, this is usually money well spent.
Going straight to a waybill means paying an estimate now and settling the difference afterwards, refunded or charged. Faster, and fine for a small dense parcel where the estimate has little room to be wrong.
The customs step is yours, not the agents
OOTDBUY warns that parcels around ten kilograms or with too many units of the same item are likely to be treated as commercial. In the United Kingdom and the European Union, value above the local threshold adds VAT. The buyer carries the consequence in both cases.
Also worth knowing before you choose a line: some routes offer no second delivery attempt and no return service. If nobody will be at the address, that detail matters more than a few units of currency in freight.
The exchange rate you actually pay
OOTDBUY states that it charges nothing beyond the goods, the international freight and the customs clearance fee. Read that alongside the next line of the same notice, which defines the cost of goods as the sellers price plus the freight inside mainland China, and the shape of the bill becomes clear: the domestic leg is folded into the goods, not shown as its own charge.
That leaves one step that is easy to miss. The seller is paid in yuan and you are charged in your own currency, so a rate is applied somewhere between those two moments. No notice on the official site states what that rate is or how it is set. That silence is the reason to measure it yourself instead of assuming it tracks the mid market rate your bank quotes.
The way to check takes a minute: note the yuan price on the listing, note what the order screen charges you, and divide one by the other. Compare that against the rate a currency converter gives you at the same moment. We do not publish a figure for it because it is not a published figure, and a stale number here would cost you real money.
